C*M-MUNITY CARE: Building Intimate Harm Reduction Networks
How do we foster intimate connections that feel fulfilling and authentic to our unique journey with sex and substances, whether or not we’re currently using?
It can feel isolating when attempting to cultivate sober(curious) community or to find the courage to put ourselves out there without or with less substances to fuel us. Intimacy may feel particularly complex to build or sustain due to substance use playing a part in us feeling open, connected or sexy.
In addition, lack of access to support and resources for us as LGBTQ2SIA+ individuals coupled with the stigma of usage may leave us feeling repressed, stuck, or sexually frustrated. How can we access pleasure amidst the systems that uphold shame and disembodiment? How do we find each other in a world trying so hard to keep us isolated?
Join Sober Sex Educator Ms. Mac, CSE (she/fae) as we discover how to cultivate intimate connections that align with our evolving values and (re)build community wherever we find ourselves on our journey with sex and substances. Through LGBTQ2SIA+ comprehensive sex education from a harm reduction lens, Ms. Mac will share components of lasting intimate connections, explore creative ways to foster community, and provide resources to develop & deepen your connection to self and others.
Acknowledging our current political climate and the challenges faced when attempting to access pleasure in our Queer and Trans bodies, Ms. Mac will also provide insight from visionaries like Audre Lorde. We will create a Community Resource Map and build Personalized Pleasure Practices reflective of where we are today on our sex and substance use journey.
ASL & Spanish interpretation provided.
This workshop acknowledges the full spectrums of gender identity (i.e. nonbinary, enby, gender-fluid, etc), sexual orientation, relationship structure and substance usage (currently using, sober-curious, moderating, in recovery, not sober but interested in learning, etc). Workshop via Zoom. Sober S3x Series Community Agreements shared at start of workshop.
MORE ABOUT LIGHTHOUSE LEARNING COLLECTIVE

Creating Safer Spaces with LGB/TGNC+ People in New York
(info provided directly from NHRC Website)
The Lighthouse Learning Collective offers space for strategy, support, and resources for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender non-conforming people (LGB/TGNC+) who use drugs. Bringing together harm reduction groups and organizations that serve the LGB/TGNC+ community, we hope to reimagine what safety and care can look like for queer and trans folks who use drugs. We leverage the strengths of multiple movements, communities, and organizations to develop resources that can help transform systems of care. Creating this space allows us to work dynamically as a community, thinking about how our lives intersect with accessibility, sex work, immigration, incarceration, and houselessness.
